Who We Are
In 1991, inspired by the biblical principle of being a good neighbor, several churches in Crystal Lake founded the Good Samaritan Ministry. Our religious nonprofit organization is dedicated to assisting residents who face short-term financial challenges and helping them receive essential living necessities.
Based in the offices generously provided by Bethany Lutheran Church at 76 W Crystal Lake Ave, our volunteers are available Mondays and Fridays from 9 AM to 11 AM to meet with locals in need. These meetings are efficient and require an appointment to verify needs and provide assistance.

Our Mission
Our mission is to aid those who are less fortunate financially. We are dedicated to creating tools and services to help the less fortunate get back on their feet and begin more productive and joyful lives. Historically, the largest part of the money is used to pay delinquent rent and utility bills.
Our intervention has often prevented people’s evictions from their homes and avoided utility turnoffs. Additionally, help may be given to purchase items such as medical supplies, car insurance, or gasoline when needed for doctor’s visits or job hunting.
